Yogurt Containers
Do you need a yogurt container? You might need one and not even know it. The little cups can be used for all sorts of things around the house. After finishing the yogurt, wash with hot soapy water and dry. Then, you'll have containers that are just the right size for about a hundred things. What kind of things are they good for? Try using them for germinating seedlings and growing them to small plants. Then transplant to your garden when the plants get large enough. Tomatoes do great as small plants after germination. The small size makes them handy for starting flowers, too. If you have a hobby or bonus room, you can try using the cups for storing buttons, pins and stamps. Or put small holes in the bottom of the containers, tie a string to the holes and string them apart to make a little telephone for the kids. Many brands of yogurt use plastic that is free of BPA, but usually the containers are not recyclable. Cups that are BPA free can be used as sippy cups for your infant by cutting a small hole in the lid and inserting a straw. Even before they are empty, the containers are worth their weight in gold. Slip a cup of one of the berry-flavored yogurts into your lunch bag in the morning before leaving for work. Then, pop open the foil and experience the aroma and flavor of your favorite cold blueberry or strawberry Yoplait. Why is it that women eat more of the stuff than men? Maybe it's something genetic that affects the taste buds. Maybe women just like food that is better for them. For the yogurt loving woman who wants to save money, she can reuse the old containers by getting a large container of plain yogurt and mixing with chopped fruit and putting into the containers, or just spoon the yogurt on top, afterwards. Chilling in the refrigerator is necessary to prevent the mixture from spoiling. There are lots of live culture beneficial bacteria, called probiotics, in the creamy dish because bacteria are what helps form yogurt when it's made. Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium are two of the organisms that impart flavor, while others alter the texture to make it smooth and creamy. The flavor might be sour, but if it's too sour then it might be already spoiled. |
